Doctors usually advise moms to practice exclusive breastfeeding until the baby is 6 months old, at least. The reasons are that milk contains all the essential nutrients necessary for the growth and development of the child. Also, the baby’s digestive system is not mature enough to absorb and digest any other type of food.

How to clean your baby’s feeding bottles

Medical personnel will always tell you to wash the feeding bottles with hot or lukewarm water. You will not enjoy the advantages of bottle feeding if you don't have a good bottle cleaning routine. Day to day use may expose the bottle to germs and bacteria. These would normally not pose a serious risk to adults, but since the baby’s body is yet to develop to that stage of fighting infections excellently, it is better to prevent it by using lukewarm water and dishwashing liquid to wash baby feeding bottles. This gets rid of all impurities that might have found its way into the bottle.

Remember that bottle feeding should be done after 6 months of exclusive breastfeeding. To enjoy the advantages of bottle feeding, keep the bottles and the whole home environment clean and conducive enough for the baby. The child’s health and well-being should be a priority when it come to cleaning out feeding bottles.
